I think this makes an interesting contrast to the other Rock Creek Park pictures I've got on here (this and this ). This was taken at night, obviously with flash. It is illegal to be in the park at night, so of course I wasn't actually in there... (*cough*...)

Many of the night pictures came out rather creepy, with sick greens and dull oranges, but I like this one because it's actually got an interesting play of light and shadow (at least on the branches that are more in the background), and it actually shows the buds of imminent spring, so it's less freakish and halloween-y than the more colorful shots.

Perhaps I should have cropped out the top part, which is less interesting than the bottom, but I think it gives the piece some context, and it's nice to have an area in the frame that's slightly less busy. In all, I think the white-on-black just made a great change from the usual black-on-white you get with daytime tree photos.
